Vanaf 1 januari 2021 gelden de nieuwe BENG-eisen voor vergunningaanvragen nieuwbouw. De BENG-eisen zijn strenger dan EPC, omdat er eisen worden gesteld aan de energiebehoefte van het gebouw, het primair (fossiele) energiegebruik en het aandeel hernieuwbare energie. Een goede en duurzame schilisolatie wordt daardoor nog belangrijker.
